The Cuacos de Yuste military cemetery near the monastery of San Jerómino de Yuste in the province of Cáceres ( Extremadura ) on the southern flank of the Sierra de Gredos is a German military cemetery in Spain. It is halfway between the village of Cuacos de Yuste and the Monastery of San Jerómino de Yuste. Charles V , Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation, spent the evening of his life in Cuacos de Yuste after his abdication in 1556.

After the end of the Franco dictatorship in the early 1980s, the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge decided to set up a central military cemetery for all German soldiers who died in combat in Spain. Construction work began in 1980, including the reburial of the first fallen. The cemetery was inaugurated on June 1, 1983.

Fallen soldiers from World War I and World War II were buried in the military cemetery: 26 soldiers and sailors from the U 39 submarine from the First World War and 154 sailors from submarines or other German warships as well as crew members from aircraft that crashed over Spain. They were either recovered dead or died in Spanish hospitals. There are no graves in the cemetery of fallen soldiers of the Condor Legion , as their bones in 1939 after the end of the Spanish Civil War in the German Reich were transferred. 36 members of the submarine U 77 , which was sunk on March 29, 1943 off the coast of Calpe, as well as members of the submarines U 447 , U 454 , U 760 , U 755 , U 955 and U 966 of the are buried Second world war .
