The Solna Chiefs are an American football team from the Swedish community of Solna .

history

The Chiefs was founded in 1991 and took part in gaming operations from 1992. Before the 1994 season, they merged with the Stockholm City Wildcats and took their place in the super series where they celebrated their greatest success in the club's history the following year. With third place in the 1995 regular season they reached the play-offs and won the final, in the Stockholm Olympic Stadium , against defending champions Limhamn Griffins with 22-0, after they had drawn the short straw with 7:28 in the season. In the same year the Chiefs' U-16 juniors also reached the Swedish final, but lost against the Kristianstad C4 Lions juniors 0:66. After this triumph there was a rapid decline of the team, in 2006 the Chiefs only won one game and withdrew from the super series to carry out a rebuilding and generation change. This succeeded and the team played their way up again, after the 2001 championship in Division I Östra they lost the promotion game against Limhamn, but were still able to participate in the super series in 2002. The Chiefs played there until 2004 before they voluntarily retired to Division I for the 2005 season. In 2005, the U-16 juniors managed to win the Swedish championship title, in the final they beat the Kristianstad Predators with 38:12.

After the 2005 season, the Solna Chiefs in the senior, U-19 and U-17 area entered into a syndicate with the Täby Flyers , which plays under the name STU Northside Bulls . In the younger leagues, however, the Chiefs are still independently active.
