Solveig Klaßen

Solveig Klaßen (* 1969 in Heide / Holstein ) is a German screenwriter and director .

Life

After graduating from high school, Solveig Klaßen traveled through Africa and North America with the film poet Ted Joans . She lived in Paris and studied directing at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin from 1992 to 2000. Her graduation film was the feature documentary Out of Tibet . It premiered at the Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Joris Ivens Award . Other awards were the "Young Lion" - Bavarian Documentary Film Prize 2000 and the Prize of the Youth Jury at the Leipzig International Documentary Film Festival.

From 2001 to 2003 Klaßen went to the Beijing Film Academy, China, with a DAAD scholarship for postgraduate studies. With Katharina Schneider-Roos she shot and produced the documentary My Camera Doesn't Lie about Chinese “underground” directors of the 6th generation, which premiered in the FORUM of the Berlinale 2003 and was shown at many festivals.

Since 2004, Klaßen has been working as an artistic and academic assistant at the Art Academy for Media Cologne in the field of film and television.

In addition, Klaßen has made other long documentaries.
