Solvejg Bauer (born December 11, 1976 in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt ) is a German director , artistic director and university lecturer.

Life

Growing up in Esslingen am Neckar , she studied musicology and philosophy at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 1997-2000 after graduating from high school . She then began studying music theater directing at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater , which she completed in 2005 with her diploma staging of Ernst Krenek's triptych.

She began her professional career as an assistant director and head of the youth game club at the Württemberg state theater in Esslingen , where she also worked as a director until 2006. As a result, she worked as a freelance director, u. a. at the Theater Dortmund and at the Saarland State Theater , and as a lecturer for scenic lessons at the HfM Saar , the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart and the University of Music Trossingen . From 2009 to 2018 she lived in Saarbrücken .

On September 1, 2018, she took over the management of the Ettlingen Castle Festival . There she established a new musical theater division with the so-called "Volksoper" . In its first season of 2019 it was able to increase the number of viewers to over 40,000, which was the best attendance result in the past 20 years.

Bauer lives in Karlsruhe with her husband and three children .
