Somsdorfer Gorge

The Somsdorfer Gorge is the lowest section of a side valley of the Roten Weißeritz near Freital in the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains . Since 1961 it has been designated as part of the Rabenauer Grund nature reserve.

The Kerbtal of a reason is called Somsdorfer Klamm, which begins below the Butterstrasse at Somsdorf and merges into the Rabenauer Grund below the eye of the needle. It lies in the districts Somsdorf and Coßmannsdorf . The adjacent forest section in the direction of Somsdorf is known as the Hainleithen .

history

In 1894 a path was created by Heimatfreunde, several steps were laid at the Teufelskuppe (282.6 meters) and wood was placed on the rock for the climb. With the development of the ground, it got its name.

Buchbach

The entire ground is traversed by the Buchbach, which rises above the road from Somsdorf to Lübau (Kirchweg) and flows into the Rote Weißeritz.

Landscape conservation

It is located in the "Rabenauer Grund" nature reserve, which was placed under protection on March 30, 1961, and in the "Tal der Roten Weißeritz" protected landscape area on July 4, 1974. In addition, it is located in the Natura2000 protected area, the “Red Weißeritz and Oelsabach valleys”.
