Son Seong-cheol ( kor. 손성철 ; born February 14, 1987 ) is a South Korean water diver . He starts in artificial jumping from the 1-meter and 3-meter board as well as in 3-meter synchronized jumping.

Son played his first international championship at the 2007 World Championships in Melbourne , where he was eliminated from the 3-meter board in the individual and with Ha Seung-hun in the synchronized competition after the preliminary fight. In the following year he started at his first Olympic Games in Beijing , but only finished 29th and last place on the 3-meter board. Things went better for Son at the 2009 World Cup in Rome . From the 1-meter board and in the 3-meter synchronized jumping he was eliminated again after the preliminary fight, but made it to the semi-finals for the first time from the 3-meter board, in which he was 16th. Son achieved his greatest sporting success to date at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou . He won his first international medal with bronze in the 3-meter synchronized jumping with Park Ji-ho . In the individual competitions he was also able to convince in fourth from the 3-meter board and sixth from the 1-meter board.

At the 2012 World Cup in London , Son missed direct qualification for the 2012 Olympic Games .
