Qinzong ( Chinese  欽宗  /  钦宗 , Pinyin Qīnzōng , W.-G. Ch'in 1 -tsung 1  - "ancestor of the highly esteemed"; * 23 May 1100 in Kaifeng ; † 1161 ) was the 9th emperor of the (northern) Song Dynasty . He was the son of Song Huizong and the older brother of Song Gaozong .

As the eldest son of Huizong, Qinzong succeeded his father at the height of the war against the Jin Dynasty in January 1126, after Huizong abdicated. Qinzong only ruled for a short time. At the beginning of 1127 Kaifeng fell to the Jin forces after Qinzong was forced to surrender. He still ruled formally until March 1127 and then followed his father into the captivity of the Jin, where he also died.
