Sonic the Hedgehog's Game World is a learning - computer game , which of Aspect Co. Ltd. develops and by Sega for the first time in Japan on August 11, 1994, the Sega Pico was released. Along with Tails and the Music Maker, it is one of two Sonic games for the Sega Pico. Sonic the Hedgehog's Gameworld includes several mini-games for a younger target group that differ depending on the region. Depending on the region, there is also an English or Japanese voice output, although the voice actors have remained unknown.

Gameplay

Sonic the Hedgehog's Gameworld has several mini-games that can be played directly with the “Magic Pen” stylus. In the story, Dr. Robotnik the entertainment center "Gameworld" and hides the Chaos Emeralds on every floor. Sonic the Hedgehog , Miles Tails Prower and Amy Rose must all play mini-games and find the Chaos Emeralds. At the beginning of the game you have to select the number of players (one or two), the level of difficulty (low or high), the game mode and one of the three game characters. In the game mode , players can freely choose one of the mini-games they want to play. In story mode , points are awarded after each game. The goal is to get more points than Dr. To collect Robotnik or his opponent. Each side of the storyware cassette represents one of the floors of Gameworld, each of which contains individual mini-games. After passing the mini-games, the player can read short dialogues from Sonic's friends Flicky, Ricky, Picky, Pocky, Rocky and Cucky. In the North American version, several games of the Japanese have been removed because they were not considered educational and were replaced by a painting and drawing tool.

These mini-games are included:

  • Car Race : A simple car racing game in which three of the characters drive a lap in a circle
  • Tree Climb : Three Coconuts robots have to climb a palm tree as often as possible; the highest number of points wins
  • Hoops : Four basketball baskets run in a circle and should be hit with basketballs
  • Flag : Copy of the Game & Watch game Flagman , in which Dr. Robotnik holds up two different colored flags as announced
  • Toy Drop : An automatic gripper in which as many cuddly toys as possible are to be pulled
  • Robotnik Bop : A blown away fairy tale attraction where as many Dr. Robotnik heads from five holes intended to be hit with a hammer
  • Egg Switch : A shell game in which a Flicky in front of Dr. Robotnik's eyes should be found again after swapping the eggs
  • Concentration : A memory game in which the two identical motifs are to be found among twelve cards
  • Sonic vs. Dr. Robotnik : Sonic and Dr. Robotnik face each other. In each round, one of four motifs is randomly chosen to attack one of the two
  • Diamond Maze : Sonic and Dr. Robotnik are looking for diamonds in a multi-story labyrinth
  • A painting and drawing tool similar to Wacky Worlds Creativity Studio (only included in the North American version)

The Japanese version also contained a ball game, a roulette , two poker- like card games, a one-armed bandit and a scissors, rock, paper mini-game, which were replaced by the painting and drawing tool in the North American version because they were felt to be unsuitable.

The game was developed by Aspect Co. Ltd , who were previously responsible for the Sega game gear games Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (1992), Sonic the Hedgehog Chaos (1993) and Sonic Drift (1994). The composer Koujiro Mikusa previously worked on the soundtrack of Sonic the Hedgehog Chaos .

reception

The website AllGame rated Sonic the Hedgehog's Gameworld with 2.5 out of 5 stars, the Portuguese Power Sonic awarded 8 out of 10 possible points. The game is considered the best-selling game for the Sega Pico, although no official numbers have been released. This was due to the general popularity of Sonic on Sega consoles at the time.
