Sun shines through August is a similarly twisted coming-of-age - short film from 2018 by German director Sarah Neumann .
action
In the outdoor pool, the new high school graduate Alina meets the street rapper Sami and his group with her friends. Since New Year's Eve, the friends have been accusing the boys of having one of Sami's misdirected bangers that cost Alina her little toe. When Sami asks Alina if she would like to play in his music video, Alina wants to forgive him. But Alina's friends cannot accept this decision. Alina sees her injury as a connection to Sami. She feels strong around him. In the group of her friends she is the weak one. The loyalty to her girls and the desire to play in Sami's music video put Alina to an acid test. Consciously making your own decisions and being able to stand by them is a process that Alina experiences as she grows up.
