Sonnet Mondal (born December 30, 1990 in Kolkata ) is an Indian author who is best known for his poetry and who also works as a publisher. Sonnet Mondal writes in English, but his texts have been translated into more than 10 languages. Sonnet Mondal also gained international fame through its participation in numerous literature festivals and articles in magazines such as the Kyoto Journal , the Irish Examiner and World Literature Today .

life and work

Sonnet Mondal was born in Kolkata , where he grew up. He has an engineering degree , but did not practice that job. The poet is the founder and editor of the literary magazine Enchanting Verses Literary Review , the only Indian literary magazine for poetry that is produced without government subsidies or advertising. In addition, he is one of the international curators of the Lyrikline network of the House for Poetry in Berlin , as well as curator for the Dutch Foundation for Literature. He also writes for the international literary magazine Words Without Borders and publishes poetry for Sangam House , where he is also an editor. Sonnet Mondal was one of the authors of the Silk Route project at the University of Iowa from 2014 to 2016 and was invited to Sierra Nevada College as Writer in Residence in 2018 as part of the creative writing program there . He is also one of the directors of the Odisha Art and Literature Festival .

reception

Sonnet Mondal was featured in 2010 by India Today magazine as one of the Famous Five of Bengali Youths and was on the Long List of Celebrity 100 by Forbes magazine in 2014 . In March 2015, The CultureTrip website named him as one of the top five actors in Indian poetry in English.
