Sonning Hill is a hill near Sonning in Berkshire ( England ) on the Thames .

The Sonning Cutting takes the Great Western Railway through part of the hill between Twyford and Reading . There was a railway accident here on December 24, 1841 .

The Thames splits into two arms to the west of an arc that directs it north, creating an elongated, narrow island that is part of Oxfordshire . ( 51 ° 28 ′ 2.5 ″  N , 0 ° 55 ′ 29.2 ″  W )
