Sonya Hartnett

Sonya Hartnett (born February 23, 1968 in Box Hill , Melbourne ) is an Australian writer.

She wrote her first novel “Anger all along the line” at the age of 13. She mainly writes books for children and young adults, but also for adults, such as "Of a Boy" or, under the pseudonym Cameron S. Redfern, the very controversial novel "Landscape with Animals" (2006, German: " Secret Desire ", 2007).

The media scientist writes provocatively. Characteristic is her portrayal of unadorned reality, which she combines with elements of the "Gothic Novel" and "magical realism". Her writing is influenced by Ivan Southall , Robert Cormier and has been compared to John Steinbeck and William Faulkner .

In 2008 Sonya Hartnett was awarded the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Prize , endowed with 532,000 euros .
