The Michael L. Printz Award is an annual American literary award that has been presented by the Young Adult Library Services Association, a subgroup of the American Library Association , since 2000 . The award is named after the Topeka school librarian Mike Printz.

Every year, a main prize (Printz Medal) and several honorary awards (Printz Honor) are given to authors of outstanding books for young people. From 1922 until the award was introduced in 2000, the Newbery Medal covered children's books as well as books for young people.
