John Barnes (writer)

John Allen Barnes (born February 28, 1957 in Angola , Indiana ) is an American science fiction writer.

Life

John Barnes grew up in Detroit and Bowling Green, Ohio . He received a bachelor's degree in economics and a master's degree in political science from Washington University in St. Louis . He then worked as a systems analyst in New Orleans . He then graduated from the University of Montana - Missoula with a Master's degree in Theater Studies ( directing ) and Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing ( fiction ). He received his PhD in theater studies from the University of Pittsburgh . John Barnes taught communication and theater studies at Western Colorado University (formerly Western State College of Colorado ) in Gunnison .

John Barnes was married to the writer Kara Dalkey for the second time .
