Jennifer Donnelly (* 1963 in Port Chester , New York) is an American writer of German- Irish descent.

Life and accomplishments

She studied English literature and history at Rochester University, New York State, and graduated magna cum laude . Her book "The Tea Rose" was created during a stay of several years in London . For her work "The Light of the North" she received the Carnegie Medal and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize in the category " Young Adult Fiction " in 2003 .

Jennifer Donnelly lives in the Hudson Valley, New York State , with her husband and daughter .

In her second novel, Das Licht des Nordens (2003), Donnelly integrates the true story of the murder of Grace Brown at Big Moose Lake into a story from the perspective of the sixteen-year-old half-orphan Mattie Gokey, who entrusts the murdered woman with letters for destruction before she is killed to whom dark secrets are revealed.
