The Yotsuya Station ( Japanese 四ツ谷駅 , Yotsuya eki ) is located in Shinjuku in Tokyo , Japan . It is served by the companies JR East and Tōkyō Metro . On the web spiders of the Tōkyō Metro, the station is designated M-12 on the Marunouchi line and N-08 on the Namboku line .

history

On October 9, 1894, the station was opened by the private Kinoe Railway as a passenger station for the newly opened line between Shinjuku and Iidabashi stations . On October 1, 1906, with the nationalization of several private railway companies , the station passed into state ownership. On March 15, 1959, the subway station for the Marunouchi line opened. On April 1, 1987, the station became the property of JR East, which had emerged from the privatization of the state railway. With the completion of the section to Komagome on March 26, 1996 a train of the Namboku line stopped for the first time at the station, the trains of the line ended here until further notice. It was only with the opening of the next section to Tameikesanno station on September 30, 1997 that it became possible to operate as a through station for this line. On April 1, 2004, the subway operations on the Marunouchi and Namboku lines were privatized and the subway station became the property of the Tōkyō Metro.

Type of construction and tracks

The station of the JR East as well as the Tōkyō Metro are built as through stations. Both stations have four platform tracks each. While these serve two middle platforms at JR East according to the line affiliation, the tracks of the Tōkyō Metro are served from side platforms . The lines of the Tōkyō Metro, however, are structurally largely separated from each other, so that the Namboku line runs underground while the Marunouchi line to cross the JR tracks here has to run above ground and the stop of the line was built across the JR tracks.
