The Funabashi Station ( Jap. 船橋駅 , Funabashi eki ) is located in the city of Funabashi in Chiba Prefecture , Japan . The Keisei Funabashi train station ( 京 成 船 橋 駅 , Keisei Funabashi eki ) operated by Keisei Dentetsu is also in the immediate vicinity, 200 m south .
history
- Funabashi station
- On July 20, 1894, the station was opened by the private Sōbu Tetsudō as a passenger and freight station for the then Sōbu line. On September 1, 1907, the station was nationalized and became the property of the State Railway Authority, the forerunner of the Ministry of Railways and the State Railways . On December 23, 1927, the Tōbu Tetsudō opened directly north of the previous train station, then its terminal station as the end point of today's Noda line . On October 1, 1974, cargo handling at the station was abandoned and on April 1, 1989, the station became the property of JR East, which had emerged from the privatization of the state railway .
- Keisei Funabashi Station
- On December 30, 1916, Keisei Dentetsu opened its station on the ground floor. Due to a new construction of the station and the relocation of the railway operations to a newly built elevated line, trains in the direction of Ueno were initially used on November 27, 2004 , before trains going to Narita Airport could also use the route from November 25, 2006 . The construction of an elevated line in the city center was mainly due to the increasing amount of car traffic in the past few years, which was jammed at the level crossings on the ground floor. However, the elevated route also made it possible to change the routing of the Skyliner Express so that it has also stopped at the station since December 10, 2006. Previously, it only stopped at Nippori station between Ueno and Narita Airport .
