Sophie Herbrecht (born February 13, 1982 in Mulhouse , France ) is a French handball player . She plays for the French club US Altkirch and in the French national handball team .

Career

Herbrecht played from 1998 for the French club ES Besançon, with which she won the championship in 1998, 2001 and 2003. From 2004 the back court player was active in Le Havre for two years. Between 2006 and 2009 she was under contract with the Issy-les-Moulineaux handball club. In the summer of 2009, Herbrecht moved to Toulouse Feminin HB . After just one season in Toulouse, she joined league rivals HBC Nîmes. Two years later she signed a contract with Toulon / Saint-Cyr. From summer 2014 she ran for Chambray Touraine handball. In the 2017/18 season she played for Brest Bretagne Handball . She then moved to the French second division club US Altkirch.

Herbrecht has so far played 193 games for the French selection. The right-hander won the 2003 World Cup with the French team. In addition, Herbrecht took third place with France at the European Championships in 2002 and 2006 . In addition, she took part in the Olympic Games in 2004 , 2008 and 2012 .
