Sophie Elizabeth Lee (born August 7, 1968 in Newcastle , New South Wales ) is an Australian actress and author .

life and career

Sophie Lee was born in Newcastle. She grew up without television because her father saw it as having a detrimental effect on mental development. She first attended elementary school in Dudley, Newcastle. After that, the non-Catholic switched to the Catholic St. Mary's Convent School.

At the age of 18, Sophie Lee moved to Sydney to pursue a career. First she worked as a model in Australia and Japan . She moved to St Kilda , Victoria while working regularly for the GTV-9 television network in the early 1990s . In 1991 she made her début in front of the camera in the television series The Flying Doctors ( also known in German-speaking countries ) . In German-speaking countries, she was best known for her portrayal of the bride Tania Degano in the 1994 tragic comedy Muriels Hochzeit (Muriel's Wedding) . Sophie Lee played saxophone in the Australian pop group "Freaked Out Flower Children", which recorded their hit album "Love In" in 1991 and landed in the charts with the single Spill the Wine . Sophie Lee has also appeared in many theatrical performances, for example with the "Sydney Theater Company".

From 1994 to 2000 Sophie Lee was the partner of the Australian comedian and author Mick Molloy, on whose radio show she was a regular guest. She has been married to Anthony Freedman since March 1, 2002, with whom she has a daughter and two sons.
