Marcello Sorce Keller

Marcello Sorce Keller (born July 20, 1947 in Milan , Italy ) is a Swiss- Italian musician , music historian and music ethnologist .

Origin and education

Sorce Keller studied composition at the Conservatorio di Milano and social sciences at the Università degli Studi di Milano . With a thesis on the oral transmission of the regional music of Trient (Italy), he received a Ph.D in musicology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign .

Music research and education

Sorce Keller's research activities include studies in philosophical aesthetics , music history , music ethnology , music sociology and music politics. He optionally teaches at universities in Switzerland, Italy, the USA, Australia and Malta. For several years he has been producing the program Note di libertà for Italian-speaking Swiss radio , which is committed to musical diversity and its communication to a wide audience.
