history

This short-lived left-wing party emerged in the late 1980s and advocated independence for the Faroe Islands from Denmark. In other areas of politics it was more radical than the other left-wing parties at the time, Javnaðarflokkurin and Tjóðveldisflokkurin . The Sosialistiski Loysingarflokkurin only took part once in one election, the Løgtingswahl 1990 , with DP Danielsen as a candidate for the Løgting. At that time the party got 2.3 percent of the vote. However, this was not enough for a seat in parliament.

The severe economic crisis that hit the Faroe Islands in the first half of the 1990s drastically changed the economic and political conditions in the Faroe Islands. The Sosialistiski Loysingarflokkurin then no longer took part in the Løgtingswahl 1994 .
