Coordinates: 26 ° 32 ′  S , 151 ° 50 ′  E The South Burnett Region is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Queensland . The area is 8382 km² and has about 32,000 inhabitants.

The region is located in the southeast of the state about 160 km northwest of the capital Brisbane .

The largest city and the administrative seat of the LGA is Kingaroy with around 9500 inhabitants. history

Today's South Burnett Region emerged in 2008 from the four Shires Kingaroy, Murgon, Nanango and Wondai.

administration

The South Burnett Regional Council has seven members. Six councilors are elected by the residents of the six divisions (constituencies). The council chairman and mayor (mayor) is also elected by all residents of the region.
