Lowcountry is a geographic and cultural region along the coast of the US state of South Carolina . Charleston , Beaufort , and the resort island of Hilton Head are the largest cities. The Lowcountry is known for beautiful views, historic locations, antebellum architecture, and African American culture. The region has many of the Sea Islands (marine islands).
