The Southern California Edison (SCE) is an electric utility in the greater Southern California and at the same time the relevant subsidiary of Edison International . It supplies around 5,000 industrial companies, 14,000 commercial companies and around 14 million private customers with electrical energy .

The SCE Corp owns and operates all high-voltage lines in its supply area as well as 16 so-called interconnections within the framework of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation with neighboring network operators. One of the largest interconnections is the so-called Path 26 in Los Angeles County with Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), which is designed for a transmission capacity of 3.6 GW.

As part of the deregulation, SCE had to sell its own power plants, including all gas-fired power plants . Only a few hydropower plants with a total output of 1.2  GW and a 75% stake in the San Onofre nuclear power plant remain in the possession of the SCE .
