Social companion (FA) is a protected job title in Switzerland.
The social assistant exam is a professional exam .
activities
Social counselors support their clients with difficult living conditions in everyday life, in their free time, when dealing with authorities etc. The aim is to (re) establish the client's independence.
The majority work for church, public or private institutions. Most of them work in the outpatient sector, but rarely do they also work in the inpatient sector.
requirements
Required when taking the exam:
- federal Certificate of proficiency (EFZ) as a specialist in care , specialist in health or equivalent ID in the social or health sector
- and
- After completing the basic education, at least 2 years of professional experience 50% in supervision and support in the social area
or
- Qualification at upper secondary level (e.g. technical school-leaving certificate , high school diploma, basic education in another occupation)
- and
- after graduation, at least 3 years of professional experience 50% in supervision and support in the social area
The required professional experience may amount to max. 25% is done in the documented volunteer work and must have been done in the last 5 years before taking the exam.
education
The training lasts one and a half to three years (depending on previous education) and takes place alongside the job.
history
The school for social accompaniment in Zurich has existed since 1981 and awarded the title of qualified social accompanist until 2012.
The examination regulations for the social assistant (FA) came into force on May 5, 2010. The sponsor is the Swiss professional association for social support and INSOS Switzerland. The first test according to this regulation took place on November 16-17, 2011.
Graduates between 2003 and 2012 of the School for Social Support with one year of 100% social support can apply for a certificate without an examination. Previous graduates must take the exam.
