Social center Norderstedt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Norderstedt Social Center is a political and cultural center in the city of Norderstedt . After the city demolished the building in 2005, the social center no longer has its own event rooms.

history

From 1995 the social center was located on a property in Ulzburger Straße. It consisted of an old, converted house, several outbuildings and a garden. The social center had a bar, a concert room, a photo laboratory, a women's room, a computer room and living rooms.

The property owned by the city of Norderstedt was occupied in 1995 by a "House Plenum Norderstedt". The group then received a license agreement from the city. In 2005 the city wanted to demolish the building in order to create a parking lot for road construction vehicles and canceled the lease on September 1, 2005. The group has occupied the property since then.

At the end of December 2005, the occupiers left the building and handed in the house keys. On December 30, 2005, the buildings were demolished under police protection and protests from former users.

In 2009, plans failed to move into a building on Friedrichsgaber Weg, where crisis beds were also to be set up for young people. On the one hand, residents, legally represented by the FDP federal politician Wolfgang Kubicki and the former CDU state politician Trutz Graf Kerssenbrock, applied for an injunction to set up a traffic circle , for which the buildings would have had to be demolished. The traffic circle was also supported by the Norderstedt FDP parliamentary group. However, the lawsuit failed. In addition, the development and zoning plan would have had to be changed for the intended use as a socio-therapeutic contact point, which would have meant a delay for the social center. Therefore, the city moved away from the plan to move the social center into the buildings on Friedrichsgaber Weg, which was disappointed at the social center.

activities

At least 68 different music groups played concerts in the old building.

Since the demolition, the social center group has been meeting regularly at the Norderstedt information archive. The Norderstedter group of the organization Avanti - Project Undogmatic Left has, among other things, an exhibition on the deportation prison in the prison Glasmoor , an "open space" bar and events as part of campaigns against the glorification of Nazi Germany and against the G8 summit in Heiligendamm organized. The Norderstedt “Inferno” information network deals with the interaction between information technology and society and offers access to modern information media.

The Social Center takes part in protests against the city's plans to build new and partly paid facilities as part of the Schleswig-Holstein State Horticultural Show 2011 .
