In 2104, the so-called Space Rangers, a troop of police and soldiers stationed at the Fort Hope outpost on the planet Avalon, ensure order and security in the surrounding space. Captain John Boon and his crew hunt down criminals and become involved in conflicts with mysterious aliens, the banshies. The very headstrong Captain Boon often interprets the regulations differently than his superior, Commander Chennault. In order to fulfill his orders, Captain Boon serves an old, rundown ship alongside his crew, which he does not want to exchange for a new one.

The series premiered in the United States on January 27, 1993 on CBS . In Germany, the series was first broadcast by ProSieben on June 29, 1994 and later repeated on ProSieben and kabel eins, and most recently in 2007 on the Premiere series .

The series was released on DVD in 2011 by the German film publisher Fernsehjuwelen . In the United States, it was released on VHS in the 1990s . The series was first released on DVD on October 15, 2013.
