Clamping device
As clamping means are in the manufacturing technology all devices for firmly fixing ( clamp , mono- or tighten ) of a workpiece or tool during the machining process, respectively.
This includes:
- Vice , third hand
- Clamping angle
- Chucks ( e.g. on boring machines and lathes)
- Force ( clamp , clamping ferrule , Leimzwinge , spring clamp )
- Cable ties , rubber band
A wide variety of clamping devices are used depending on the type of manufacturing process , the accuracy requirements, as well as the shape, size, material and number of pieces of a workpiece. The spectrum ranges from simple mechanically operated toggle clamps to magnetic clamping plates with moving magnetic poles for the complete machining of ferromagnetic workpieces. The actuation can take place both manually and computer-controlled, with the force being applied mechanically, magnetically, pneumatically or hydraulically.
