As a cooperative bank, Spar- und Kreditbank eG , based in Karlsruhe , belonged to the Volksbanken Raiffeisenbanken finance group and was therefore the security scheme of the Federal Association of German Volksbanks and Raiffeisenbanks e. V. (BVR) affiliated. The business area of the Spar- und Kreditbank eG was Karlsruhe. In June 2017, the general meetings of the two banks involved decided to merge Spar- und Kreditbank Karlsruhe with Volksbank Karlsruhe retrospectively from January 1, 2017, whereby the merged bank will continue to use the name Volksbank Karlsruhe. In operational terms, the merger took effect at the end of October 2017.

The history of the Spar- und Kreditbank eG went back to the year 1924. On December 17, 1924, the later Spar- und Kreditbank eG was founded under the name of “Kreditkasse eG with unlimited liability”. In 1938 the bank changed its name to “Spar- und Kreditbank eG Karlsruhe” with limited liability.
Social Commitment
The bank promoted regional social affairs, sport, culture and youth work. This included u. a. Cooperation with associations and schools as well as non-profit institutions.
