ka-news is an online daily newspaper with a focus on regional news from the city and district of Karlsruhe . According to their own information, the marketing area extends between Landau in the Palatinate and Bruchsal in the north and Rastatt and Pforzheim in the south. ka-news has been available online since February 1, 2000 and is Germany's first purely online newspaper , even before the Netzeitung . For this, the portal was awarded the Volksbank Karlsruhe Innovation Prize in November 2001. It was founded by Steffen Bischoff, Werner Herkert and Thomas Langer.

Since the Karlsruhe newspaper Badische Latest Nachrichten did not have its own internet platform for a long time and is also the only daily newspaper in Karlsruhe, the news portal ka-news was able to establish itself. Ka-news now has its own place in the Karlsruhe media landscape and is one of the five most successful news portals in Baden-Württemberg.

ka-news is an IVW -checked medium and takes part in the AGOF study. According to this, ka-news.de has 8.4 million page views , around 1.84 million visits and 390,000 visitors to its pages per month (as of July 2017). Editor-in-chief (from August 2009: editor-in-chief) of ka-news were Werner Herkert (February 1, 2000 to February 28, 2006), Stefan Jehle (March 1, 2006 to December 31, 2006), Denis Elbl (January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2006) March 2010), Felix Neubüser (April 1, 2010 to September 30, 2013), Moritz Damm (October 1, 2013 to November 30, 2015). The current editor-in-chief is Corina Bohner.

On July 7th, 2008 ka-news announced that on July 1st, 2008 Südkurier Medienhaus from Konstanz , which at that time belonged to the Georg von Holtzbrinck publishing group (now Mediengruppe Pressedruck ), had taken over the majority of ka-news GmbH as a shareholder. The managing directors are Felix Neubüser and Südkurier publishing director Michel Bieler-Loop.
