Company history

Sparkasse Eferding

Sparkasse Eferding was founded in 1864 as a community savings bank. The first business operation took place in the old town hall at Stadtplatz 28. In 1871 the Sparkasse moved to the building at Stadtplatz 99. The Sparkasse building at Stadtplatz 1 was opened in 1908.

Sparkasse Peuerbach

In mid-March 1875, some citizens of Peuerbach applied for the establishment of an association savings bank on the grounds that the community itself was not financially in a position to do so and that the savings banks that had already been founded in Schärding and Grieskirchen were too far away. Eleven citizens of the community were able to raise a management fund (770  fl ) and a guarantee fund (10,700 fl). Exactly one year after the application for establishment, the statutes, which had been drawn up based on the model of Grieskirchen, and the establishment were officially approved. The Sparkasse was able to start work as early as May 1876.

The first law firm was housed in the Lehnerhaus on Hauptstrasse, and the new building at Hauptstrasse 23 was opened in 1889. In 1979 the new building was erected at Hauptstrasse 26 and in 1989 an extension at Hauptstrasse 26. In 2001, Sparkasse Peuerbach was merged with Sparkasse Eferding-Waizenkirchen.

Sparkasse Waizenkirchen

In 1889 the Vereinssparkasse Waizenkirchen was founded. Business operations began in the Wagner inn on the market square. In 1903, the Sparkasse moved to Marktplatz 8. It remained there until 1976, when the new building at Marktplatz 7 was completed. Four years later, the Sparkasse Eferding merged with the Sparkasse Waizenkirchen to form the Gemeindesparkasse Eferding-Waizenkirchen.

Sparkasse Engelhartszell

The Kommunensparkasse Engelhartszell , founded in 1894, was taken over by the Sparkasse Peuerbach in 1939.

Sparkasse Eferding-Peuerbach-Waizenkirchen

Today's Sparkasse Eferding-Peuerbach-Waizenkirchen was created through the merger of the Sparkasse Eferding, Waizenkirchen, Engelhartszell and Peuerbach in 1939, 1980 and 2001. The Sparkasse Eferding was re-established through the merger of Sparkasse Peuerbach with Sparkasse Eferding-Waizenkirchen in 2001 -Peuerbach-Waizenkirchen as an association savings bank based at Stadtplatz 1 in Eferding.
