The Sparkasse Frankenmarkt AG is an Upper Austrian banking company based in Frankenmarkt and part of the savings bank group in Austria . It was created in 1894 as a community savings bank. The Sparkasse is a member of the cooperation and liability association of the Austrian savings banks and the Austrian savings bank association .

Founding history

The plan for the establishment of a savings bank finally took shape at the meeting of the Marktcommune Frankenmarkt on August 6, 1893, when the establishment of a savings bank in Frankenmarkt was unanimously decided.

The statutes were approved on September 1, 1894 by the "Upper Austrian Lieutenancy" based on the authorization of the KK Ministry of the Interior on May 19, 1892.

The Sparkasse Frankenmarkt is one of the few savings banks in Austria that was established by a market municipality under the liability of the municipality and the general liability of the municipality of Frankenmarkt. In addition, by pledging its 95 yoke Asang or Marktwald forest, the Marktcommune Frankenmarkt guaranteed deposits and their interest up to a maximum of 10,000 guilders until the Sparkasse's reserve fund reached 5% of total savings bank deposits.

The first and at the same time constituent meeting of the Savings Banks Committee took place on September 21, 1894. This consisted of twelve members, nine of whom were sent by the Marktcommune Frankenmarkt and three by the Frankenmarkt community. They elected communal member Johann Gastinger as their chairman. The mayor of the liability community belonged to the savings bank committee without an election. From this the management was formed, which consisted of five directors who had to appoint a chairman and a head of the office from among their number. The first head of the office was the lawyer Friedrich Peyrer and the chairman of the board of directors was the chairman of the market commune, Franz Nussdorfer.

The Upper Austrian Lieutenancy appointed the KK tax collector Josef Degn as the prince's commissioner in the Sparkasse.

January 1, 1895 was set as the opening day. The customer catchment area of the Sparkasse encompassed the entire legal district of Frankenmarkt.

Structural development of the main institute

The savings bank started its business in 1895 in the house of the founding member and lawyer Friedrich Peyrer in Frankenmarkt, Hauptstrasse 62. For reasons of space, it moved to the district court building in 1923 and stayed there until 1956. As early as 1941, the Sparkasse acquired the property at Hauptstrasse 26 for the purpose of building its own savings bank house. As a result of the turmoil of the war, it finally took until November 1956 before the new, three-story savings bank building could be opened. At the beginning of the 1970s, the last tenant left the upper floor that had been inhabited up to that point. Now the plan has been implemented to create more space for customer facilities. Accounting, payment transactions and meeting rooms were relocated to the vacated 1st floor and the entire ground floor was now available for service facilities and customer advice. Over 1000 customers visited the newly renovated Sparkasse in 1976 on the "Open House".

A generous and extensive renovation was carried out in Frankenmarkt in 1997, when two single-storey extensions were incorporated into the overall house in a stylish manner. A complete reorganization of the business processes was now possible. The board area, loan processing and risk management were located on one level on the ground floor and five customer-friendly consultation rooms were created around the counter area. Social and seminar rooms for the employees as well as an event hall that can be changed in size are now located on the upper floor.
