Founding history

In 1851 a proponent committee applied for the approval of a savings bank in Poysdorf. The Lieutenancy supported this proposal, as there was a great need for cheap loans after the orphan offices were abolished. But the Ministry of the Interior rejected the application. Another application three years later was also rejected. After Zistersdorf had received approval to set up a savings bank, the municipality of Poysdorf decided at the municipal council meeting on January 31, 1859 to apply for the establishment of a municipal savings bank and to take over the required special guarantee of 8,000  fl . This request was approved by the Ministry of the Interior by resolution of July 1, 1860. The statutes regulating the rules of procedure were approved by decision of October 31, 1860. Start of regular business operations on November 5, 1861 on the premises of the community. In 1912, the building site of today's Sparkasse at Dreifaltigkeitsplatz 2 was acquired; construction was delayed by the First World War . The foundation stone for the building was laid at the beginning of August 1924. During the renovations in 1962, 1977 and 2002, the savings bank was enlarged and adapted to the needs of a modern credit institute.
