List of savings banks in Austria

The Sparkasse Salzkammergut AG , formerly Sparkasse Bad Ischl AG, with headquarters in Bad Ischl is an Upper Austrian banking company with 9 offices in the Salzkammergut, and part of the savings bank group in Austria . The Sparkasse Salzkammergut was founded in 1863 under the name Sparkasse Bad Ischl. In 2002, today's Sparkasse Salzkammergut was converted into a stock corporation to secure independence. The Sparkasse Bad Ischl Privatstiftung is 100% owner. The Sparkasse is a member of the cooperation and liability association of the Austrian savings banks and the Austrian savings bank association . Because of its ties to the region, Sparkasse Bad Ischl was renamed Sparkasse Salzkammergut in April 2011.

history

On August 18, 1863 (Emperor's birthday), the Sparkasse of Markt Ischl opened its doors for the first time. There were two modest office rooms that were initially only open to customers three days a week. 8,000 guilders (around 80,000 euros) served as start-up capital, which was raised by 25 Ischler “citizens” as a guarantee fund. The guarantee of the Bad Ischl market, which assumed liability with all of its assets, was decisive for future success. That was of course a solid basis for gaining the trust of the locals. The composition of the first Sparkasse Committee also contributed to this, which included not only important citizens of the Ischl market, but also the mayors of the communities of Ischl, Ebensee, Goisern, Hallstatt, Gosau and St. Wolfgang. Due to the good development, the St. Wolfgang branch was opened in 1922.

The Sparkasse Salzkammergut now has 9 branches (Bad Ischl, St. Wolfgang, Ebensee, Bad Goisern, Reiterndorf, Hallstatt, Pfandl, Gosau, Strobl). An important step in the history of today's Sparkasse Salzkammergut AG was the joining of the liability association in 2002. The liability association of the Austrian savings banks guarantees 100% of customer deposits. Because of its ties to the region, Sparkasse Bad Ischl was renamed Sparkasse Salzkammergut in April 2011.

Foundation, endowment

The Sparkasse Bad Ischl Privatstiftung was founded in 2002 and is the only shareholder in Sparkasse Salzkammergut AG. Part of the dividend is distributed for charitable purposes. According to the foundation's declaration, it should pursue the founding mandate of the Sparkasse, "the regional promotion of economic, scientific, social and cultural developments for the common good".
