Speak is the debut album by American actress and singer Lindsay Lohan .

The album was released on December 7, 2004 in the United States , where it reached number 4 on the Billboard album charts on December 25, 2004. In Europe, the album was released on December 13, 2004 with an expanded track list. In contrast to the US version, the EU version contained the song Magnet . It sold over a million times in the United States and went platinum .

The album was released in Germany in February 2005 and reached number 53 in the German album charts. It stayed in the charts for four weeks. In Asia, the album was also released in February, but was not very successful there.

Three singles were released from the album Speak .

Rumors (German: rumors ) was the first single release. The piece was written by Lindsay Lohan, Cory Rooney, Tarryle Jackson and TJ Jackson. On September 24, 2004, the single was released in the US and only reached number 106 on the Billboard Top 200 charts. In Europe, the single was released on February 21, 2005 and debuted at number 14. In the second week, Rumors slipped to 21st place.

In the play Lohan addresses the increasing media interest in her person and the increasing rumors that are being spread about her. This problem was also addressed in the music video for the song. Lindsay Lohan is followed by paparazzi in it . She wants to go to a party, but on the way there they chase paparazzi and she needs a doppelganger to get to the elevator by car. At the end, when Lohan comes out of the club, paparazzi come again and chase them. Lindsay gets into a helicopter with her friends and they fly away. The video was shot on November 9th and 10th, 2004. Directed by Jake Nava , who was also responsible for Lohan's videos for Over and First .

Over is the second single, which was released in the US on December 14, 2004 and in Europe on April 25, 2005 in Europe. The song was written by Kara DioGuardi, John Shanks, Lindsay Lohan. In the play, Lohan deals with the pain of separation from her boyfriend at the time, Wilmer Valderrama . Over was a bigger success in the US than its predecessor Rumors . In Germany, the single only reached number 40 in the single charts.

First became the third single, which came out in the US on May 10, 2005 and in Europe on July 25, 2005. The piece was written by Kara DioGuardi and John Shanks. In the song Goes, Lohan tells that she wants to be the first and the best. The song is also the theme song for Lindsay's 2005 film Herbie: Fully Loaded . In the video as well as in the movie, Lohan wins a car race. In Germany, First only made it to number 74 in the singles charts, while in the USA it was even more successful than Over .
