The Sperm Bluff is a striking, 5 km long and over 1000 m high cliff in East Antarctic Victoria Land . It forms the northeast end of the Clare Range in the Transantarctic Mountains .
It was mapped and named by participants in the Terra Nova Expedition (1910-1913) led by the British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott . Name factor was the shape of the cliff from the east line of sight, in the north side of the head of a sperm whale ( English sperm whale ) recalls.
