Spherocyst

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sphaerocysts are spherical cells in the tissue of fungal fruit bodies . Among other things, they occur in the Velum of Amanita species. Characteristic is the presence of sphaerocysts in the tissue of the fruiting bodies of the Russulales , especially of deafblings and milkweed , which leads to the characteristic apple-like breaking behavior, from which the name brittle leaves is derived.
