Spheron is a German death metal band from Ludwigshafen am Rhein , which was founded in 2007 under the name Immanuel Cunt .

history

The band was founded in 2007 under the name Immanuel Cunt. However, since, according to Tobias Alter, many people thought this was going to be a Porngrind band, the group soon changed its name to Spheron. The band has existed since March 2008 in their current line-up with the singer Daniel Spoor, the guitarists Tobias Alter and Mark Walther, the bassist Matthias Minor and the drummer Tobias Blach. In autumn 2008 the band recorded their first demo. In July 2010 the EP To Dissect Paper followed . The debut album Ecstasy of God was released in July 2013 via Apostasy Records . The recordings for the album were already finished in July of the previous year, but the release was delayed due to problems with the cover design.

style

According to Matthias Olejnik from metal.de , the band can be classified between technical and progressive death metal. According to Björn Thorsten Jaschinski from the rock-hard magazine, the album Ecstasy of God is a mixture of progressive and death metal. According to Mark Walther, the title is said to have been inspired by lyrics by the band Deadborn . The songs on the album deal, among other things, with an idea by Eduard von Hartmann , the tragedy of the commons or the emergence of the self. Musically, the band was influenced by groups such as Metallica , Death and Nile , among others .
