Irchenrieth's coat of arms with a spiked shield head

A Spickel even Zwickel called, is in the Heraldry a crest figure that the triangle is used as an image.

It can appear as a herald image and also as a common figure in the coat of arms .

If the triangle touches the edge of the coat of arms with at least two points, it is a herald image. Individual triangles can be upright or turned down, i.e. overturned. If there is a triangular opening in the gore, this shape is emblazoned as a triangle . This figure resembles the musical instrument triangle . The most common position is the three-pass , two triangles placed over one (2: 1) or (1: 2).

If a sign or field is only covered with touching corrugations, it is described as coring . For this purpose, a larger number of touching triangles are arranged in several rows. This creates the impression of parallel lines on which triangles with the leg are placed and their tips touch the nearest dividing line. The colors of the vertically upright triangles are always different from the inevitably overturned ones.

The direction of the rows of gussets, their number and their position in relation to the upper / lower triangular row determines the name of the gusset. An oblique left (direction from bottom right front to left top back) or oblique (direction left bottom back to right top front) is possible.

If the gussets are staggered in the rows so that the triangle tips touch the middle of the triangle sides in the next row of the same color, the gusset posts are created. An imaginary vertical line through gussets of the same color facilitates recognition.

In the description , the number of rows and the number of spindles are mentioned, including those cut on the edge of the shield .

At the flank pimple , the herald's image is on the right or left edge of the shield. Another figure is the Spickelfeh . Here, the gussets are placed on the beams without reaching the next row. If the tips point towards the base of the shield , then it is a dodecropping feh .

A triangle with a cross on top is an alchemical symbol and is used to represent the element phosphorus . In the coat of arms of Nauru it is in silver because of the abundant occurrence.

The Franconian rake is shown with three points .
