Toy museum, village and vine growing museum in Riehen

The toy museum, village and vineyard museum in Riehen near Basel is located in the old Wettsteinhaus from the 17th century (named after its former owner Johann Rudolf Wettstein ) and is a three-part collection.

As the toy museum established in 1972, the first in Switzerland, it presents an extensive collection of European toys , some of which belongs to the Museum der Kulturen Basel , and some of which are the legacy of a private collector. The focus is on wooden toys , dollhouses and kitchens , tin toys , lead and tin figures , paper theaters and railways . Rural natural toys (pine cones, bones) and objects of commercial and industrial origin (Nuremberg, Erzgebirge) refer to different forms of earlier education . The exhibition adds its own scope.

The village museum shows everyday rural life around 1900 and the vineyard museum shows the importance of viticulture for the village.
