Toy World (Bad Kissingen)

The Toy World is a toy museum and a department in the Obere Saline Museum in Hausen (Bad Kissingen) .

history

The toy world was after two years of planning, on December 8, 2011 at the top floor of the museum's Upper Saline officially opened. It was financed with funds from the city of Bad Kissingen and the district of Lower Franconia . The architect was Andreas Pietsch from Fürth ; the historian Birgit Schmalz designed the concept .

The exhibition is based on exhibits from the collection of Hilla Schütze from Kissingen, who has been collecting wooden children's toys and picture books from all over the world for over 50 years and who has campaigned for such a toy museum .

The 150 m² toy world department is located on the top floor of the Obere Saline Museum. Mainly wooden toys from all over the world are shown. Another focus of the exhibition is the domestic and small-scale toy production in the Rhön, such as wooden toys from the production of Friedrich Meinel or the model buildings of the company RS (Dr. Rudolf Spitaler) .

In the exhibition space from Hilla's toy box are special and temporary exhibitions presented.

In addition to the visual presentation in dark rooms with black walls and illuminated exhibition cabinets, there is additional information about several listening stations.
