Spirit Caravan is a Stoner Doom band from Maryland , USA , which formed around Scott "Wino" Weinrich ( Saint Vitus , The Obsessed , ex- The Hidden Hand ) and within six years and two albums became one of the most important bands in the Doom and Stoner genre became.

history

After The Obsessed ended, Weinrich moved to Maryland in 1995 and was invited to a jam session by drummer Gary Isom (including ex- Pentagram ) and bassist Dave Sherman (ex-Wretched), which later became the band Shine. Until 1998 the band worked on new material. Shortly before the first album was released, it turned out that another band was already operating under this name. The band then renamed themselves and changed the band name to Spirit Caravan (after a song by The Obsessed). In 1999 the album Jug Fulla Sun was released by Tolotta Records .

During 1999 the band recorded the EP Dreamwheel and went on a short tour. In 2001 the album Elusive Truth was released . The band went on tour with Elusive Truth and also gave concerts in Europe. The financial success failed to materialize, so Weinrich had to break up the band. In 2004 the Last Embrace released a double album that combined Jug Fulla Sun and Elusiv Truth , expanded to include B-sides and several unreleased tracks.

At the initiative of Weinrich, the band reunited at the end of 2013.
