The Hidden Hand is a project by Doom Metal musician Scott "Wino" Weinrich , who was active in numerous bands of the genre with Saint Vitus , The Obsessed , Spirit Caravan and Place of Skulls . Stylistically typical for the Maryland based band is a mixture of stoner rock and doom metal . In contrast to Wino's other bands, The Hidden Hand also contains political content in the lyrics.
history
After Spirit Caravan ended , Wino briefly joined the band Place Of Skulls, only to launch The Hidden Hand a little later with producer and bassist Bruce Falkinburg and drummer Dave Hennesey . After the EP De-Sensitized they recorded in the same year in Falkinburg's studio the debut album Divine Propaganda , which was released in 2003 on Exile on Mainstream Records . After a short tour, the second album Mother Teacher Destroyer followed in 2004 . In the same year, Wino collaborated with ex- Nirvana drummer and Foo Fighters guitarist Dave Grohl on his metal project Probot . Grohl also made contact with the Southern Lord label , which the band was to look after until they split up.
Together with the band Wooly Mammoth they released the split LP Night Letters . In the same year Dave Hennesey threw in the towel because he wanted to concentrate more on his Ostinato project ; he was replaced by Evan Tanner. After the EP Devoid Of Color a longer tour followed, after which the recordings for the third full length album began. This was named The Resurrection Of Whiskey Foote and was released in early 2007. After a European tour in spring 2007, when Matt Moulis was a new man on the drum stool, Wino broke up the band for the same reasons as Spirit Caravan before .
