The Spit ( English for headland or headland ) is a headland on the Pennell coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . At the northwest end of the Adare Peninsula , it marks the division between North Beach and South Beach at Ridley Beach .
The northern group around Victor Campbell named them in the course of the Terra Nova Expedition (1910-1913) under the direction of the British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott .
