The Donaufeld sports field , also called Donaufelderplatz , is an Austrian football stadium in the 21st Viennese district of Floridsdorf with the address Nordmanngasse 24. It is the home of the SR Donaufeld Wien (since 1965) (football club) in the district of the same name and also the Danube Dragons (since 2018 , American football ).

history

In November 1965, the SR Donaufeld Wien moved from the "old" Donaufelderplatz on Ringelseeplatz to the new area on the corner of Fultonstraße and Nordmanngasse. The facility built by the municipality of Vienna according to plans by ex-soccer player Gerhard Hanappi comprised a main playing field and a training field, which ran parallel to Fultonstrasse and the old cabin wing. In the middle of both football fields there was an earth wall with a few wooden benches on the side of the main field.

In 1992 the embankment had to give way and a grandstand for 1250 people was built. In the course of the 1990s, the training field was rotated 90 degrees and two football fields were created: an artificial turf field and a conventional grass field.

In 2014 the new cabin wing was built on the north side of the main field. The old cabins have served as a gym for the Danube Dragons footballers , who settled here in 2018 , since 2018 .

The main use of the sports facility is the games of the SR Donaufeld in the Vienna City League and their youth teams as well as the games of the Danube Dragons as part of the Austrian Football League .

Record number of spectators: 4000 (Donaufeld: Favoritner AC 0: 0, July 21, 1991, 2nd division )

The 41st final of the Sparkasse Student League also took place in 2016 on Donaufelderplatz.
