Sports Merit Medal (Monaco)

The Sports Merit Medal was donated by Decree No. 2333 on August 20, 1939 by Prince Louis II of Monaco and is awarded to people who have distinguished themselves through special sporting achievements or who have made outstanding contributions to the sporting development of the Principality .

The round medal , which is awarded in three stages ( gold - silver gold-plated , silver and bronze ), shows the half-length portrait of the donor, slightly turned to the right, with glasses and in uniform. The inscription LOUIS II · PRINCE · DE · MONACO (Louis II. Prince of Monaco) all around the circlet in the upper semicircle and the foundation date 20 AOÛT 1939 in the lower part . On the reverse the three-line inscription EDUCATION PHYSIQUE ET SPORTS (physical education and sport).

The award is worn on a green ribbon with two wide white side stripes on the left chest.
