The sports car race Foggia 1930 , also Circuito Automobilistico Del Sud , took place on September 28th of this year.

The race

With his success at the Circuito del Sud , Luigi Arcangeli , who has been a works driver for Scuderia Ferrari since July 1930, celebrated his third victory in a row for the Scuderia. In early August he had won the Tre Province sports car race and just under three weeks later in the Senigallia sports car race .

The Circuito del Sud was a road race of over 900 km, starting in Benevento and leading via Foggia , Bari , Tarent , Matera , Potenza and Salerno to Avellino . Due to the length of the route, the mechanic and racing driver Guglielmo Carraroli was assigned to Arcangeli as co-driver. At the finish, Arcangeli had a lead of 15 minutes over Archimede Rosa after more than 10 hours of driving time .
