Sprengeler mill from 1877 ( location )

The village of Sprengel is a northern part of the municipality of Neuenkirchen in the Heidekreis district , Lower Saxony . The place is in the Lüneburg Heath on the L171 between Neuenkirchen and Schneverdingen .

history

Like most places in the community of Neuenkirchen, Sprengel was also a free spell in the Middle Ages, in which the jurisdiction was not subject to any authorities, but to the farmers themselves.

Sprengel was incorporated into the Neuenkirchen community with the former communities of Behningen, Brochdorf, Delmsen, Gilmerdingen, Grauen , Ilhorn, Schwalingen and Tewel as part of the administrative and territorial reform with effect from March 1, 1974 .

Culture and sights

The Sprengeler Mühle was built in 1877 as a gallery Dutch windmill and shut down in 1972. The wings had already been dismantled in 1963. From then on the mill operated with an electric drive. From 1990 to 1998 it was extensively renovated. The wings are a new design with steel wing rods and aluminum louvre flaps. The storm "Jennifer" destroyed the old larch wing rods and the oak spades on January 28, 2002 . In 2007 a generator to generate electricity was installed in the mill building.
