Springfield is a subsidiary of the Spanish textile group Cortefiel, founded in 1988 and headquartered in Madrid .

The Springfield label sells women's and men's fashion in 35 countries in Europe , Asia , South America and North America ( Canada ) and is continuously expanding its distribution system with the franchising business method. According to the company, almost 3,500 people are currently employed at 600 locations worldwide. In Germany , 40 shops and several shop-in-shop sales areas have been established that are operated in cooperation with the Kaufhof and Peek & Cloppenburg retail chains (as of 2007).

Springfield primarily manufactures and sells clothing for men at affordable prices; since September 2006 there is also women's fashion in the range. With sporty, elegant and comfortable fashion, the company appeals to the young, cosmopolitan urban population. The company's marketing concept emphasizes a minimalism of expression, a “return to nature” and a decidedly “European” style. The slogan “Born in Europe” takes this latter concept into account. Most of the Springfield offer comes from outside Europe, which explains the low prices. The goods are manufactured in Morocco and Asia, among others .

In 1997 the company founded in Barcelona the Foundation Fundación Natura , which has set itself the objective of maintaining biological diversity by protecting and restoring natural ecosystems. For this purpose, the foundation is acquiring valuable land to turn it into nature reserves.

Springfield is the official sponsor of the Spanish national handball team .

In March 2009 Springfield Germany was taken over by the fashion label Tally Weijl , which only kept a few stores for “test purposes”.
