Spy and Spy (in American Spy vs. Spy, literally: "Spy versus Spy") is a series of comic strips that have appeared in MAD magazine since 1961 . It was invented by the Cuban - American draftsman Antonio Prohías , who also drew it until 1990. In the meantime, the strips were penned by Peter Kuper , but in Morse code in every comic is BY PROHIAS (- ••• - • - • - • • - • --- •••• •• • - •• •) or in the German edition of VON PROHIAS .

The dialog-free short stories are about two spies , a white and a black spy, who try to steal each other's secret information. To do this, they harm each other in the style of Tom and Jerry . The typical course is that one spy has a plan to harm the other. Sometimes the plan succeeds and sometimes the other spy has already seen through it and thwarted it. In both cases, one of the spies dies or is at least injured.

In some rare comic strips, a gray spy (the "woman in gray") appears who defeats both spies if she appears.

From Spion und Spion, a board game and several computer games such as: B. Spy vs Spy . In animated form, they also appear in the animated version of Mad or they appeared on MadTV . In 2004 Pepsi had the two characters licensed for a commercial for Mountain Dew in the USA .
